Hey guys, I’ve been trying to sell my T530 as a write off and it seems that nobody wants one with a busted trackpad.
I’ve tried everything I can think of other than outright replacing the keyboard (which I don’t want to do because it’s a midrange keyb and I know almost any replacement would be worse) this has amounted to trying a new operating system (which didn’t work since for some reason Linux commits suicide upon restarting during install) and just cleaning and reinserting the connector. I’ve gone into the bios and set them on and off over and over with no results.
Is there some kind of magic switch I’m missing or do I just bite the bullet and buy a new keyboard?
Thanks,

Re: T530 Trackpad and Trackpoint failure.
Have you tried disconnecting the touchpad? IIRC the Trackpoint and touchpad share the PS/2 port, and when one of them misbehaves, the other is affected as well. If the Trackpoint works well with the touchpad disconnected, then it's likely that the touchpad is malfunctioning.

Re: T530 Trackpad and Trackpoint failure.
So would I unplug the main palmrest connector, or just the two that connect to the actual touchpad and touchpad buttons? Would be neat if I could leave the fingerprint reader intact.axur-delmeria wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:58 pmHave you tried disconnecting the touchpad? Re: T530 Trackpad and Trackpoint failure.
Actually I’ll just test it myself, because dissconnecting the main bit made the Trackpoint start working again.
