TrackPoint scroll won't go left in certain programs

I recently removed my battery on my T430 to clean the vents, and now I can't scroll to the left in Reaper. Only that program so far. I've also noticed that scrolling is choppier in every application then it was before.
I've been reading all the posts on TrackPoint scrolling issues on here and other forums, but I haven't found a satisfactory answer.
I've added Reaper to tp4table.dat
I've changed the UltraNavPS2 DWORD to 2214
I've taken tpmiddle for a spin, but it just made scrolling even choppier

Wondering if there's any modern fixes to TrackPoint scrolling which just makes it work like a normal person would expect it to work.
Running Windows 8.1 with all drivers updated

ok I just figured it out!
opened regedit
went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\UltraNavPS2
set TrackPointScrollMethod to 1
this not only fixed scrolling left, it also fixed jerky scrolling everywhere else! Now my scrolls are smooth as silk.

oh also, the TrackPointMode is back at 1214, setting to 2214 just got rid of all normal scrolling.
Now, just to somehow make it work as expected in every program lol
