In theory will the bms board of a 68+ battery work in T480?

#1 Post by orionnebula » Thu Jan 26, 2023 12:48 pm

I Have a T480 it's a pain to find an original battery for it, because of whitelisting no fake battery available in local market here are working (fake batteries are not charging),
the T480 uses batteries of type 61, but I figured that the t460 which a 68 type has the exact same pinout only it has a misalignment which can't physically connect to the the battery compartment in the T480

So, If I am able to tear-down the 68+ and somehow try to physically align the socket and re-cell it with some good 18650 will it work and get recognized by the EC in the T480?

Thanks

tldr: It works, the 68+ battery worked on my T480

I have just bought a used original 68+ with high cycles 600+ with 33% wear level, I cut the notch in the socket of the 68+ battery and connected in a flimsy way, the battery is a bit smaller than the 61+ and the connector doesn't align with the laptop battery input socket,So I will try recell it and rearrange it in a new case suitable for the T480 and do the vantage calibration.
