Power comes on, but screen stays black

Hello everyone,
My name is Bryan and I’m new to the forum. I’ve been using Lenovo ThinkPads (models with i5 and i7 processors) for about a year and overall I really like them. However, I’ve recently run into a strange issue and was hoping to get some advice.
Every now and then, when I wake the laptop from sleep, the screen stays completely black even though the keyboard backlight and power LED come on. The only way I can get the display working again is by forcing a hard reboot. It doesn’t happen every time, but often enough to be frustrating.
I’ve already tried updating BIOS, reinstalling graphics drivers, and tweaking sleep settings, but the problem still shows up.
Has anyone else run into this kind of issue? Any suggestions on what else I could check?
Thanks a lot,
Bryan
