X270 13.3" modification to X370

#1 Post by la-luva » Wed Jul 29, 2020 8:07 am

Have modified my x270 to X370

Have some problems whith screen flickering.
I have the LP133WF4-SPB1 lcd installed.

Which 13.3" lcd is best?

LQ133M1JW15 Sharp
LP133WF4-SPB1 LG
B133HAN04.9 AUO
N133HCE-GP1 Innolux

I really want to buy LQ133M1JW15, but all sellers on Ebay UK (UK, because it is closest to my country) sells "compatible" lcds and the compatible they have are the N133HCE-GP1.

Background for question.

X370 with LP133WF4-SPB1, lcd is flickering occasionally.
So either motherboard does not like the LP133WF4-SPB1 or it is faulty.
Have tried another lcd i had lying (B133HAN04.6) and this seems to be working fine.
But this will not fit because of pcb on backside of lcd (thicker).
Have also tried the LP133WF4-SPB1 lcd on a stand alone adapter connecting it as a monitor number 2 on another computer with HDMI or Displayport, it seems to be working fine with this setup.

Hey, I bought this item (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-SHARP- ... SwHOlcagGO) and I truly got a LQ133M1JW02 SHARP panel. This will probably not help you very much because this panel is slightly wider than the JW15, but I thought that I would post here anyway because I am very happy with the panel in my modded X230 (the panel I got is bright, calibrator says it's shinning 340 cd/m-2 (in the center of the screen) while panelook web site says it's supposed to be 330 cd/m-2 bright). The only problem is that you'll be not able to enclose the panel in a lid (the lid would have to overlap panel's border frame). I have personally solved that by just tapping a black isolation tape all around the LCD instead of using a lid and I think it worked just fine. I am even able to close the lid and carry the laptop with me if needed. But if you want to completely mod your X270 without workarounds, then you'll have to probably keep looking for that JW15 panel which is narrower in size and would probably fit original lid.

Hi,thanks for your answere.
Yes the seller sells compatible lcds and you need to speak with the seller before buying so he sends you the correct panel.
Now i have found some lcds with even better brightness and contrast:

B133HAN05.1

B133HAN05.7

LQ133M1JX15

LQ133M1JX36

LQ133M1JW40

What does people prefer matte or glossy?
I like the looks of the glossy.

It looks as if in the Lenovo world the glossy screens are used in El Cheapo series like Ideapad and matte screens in Business series like Thinkpad.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff). And pigs CAN fly!
