Thinkpad X230 Max Resolution Through Displayport

#1 Post by alins » Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:52 pm

Can the X230 support 2560X1440 resolution via its displayport, on a 27" LCD monitor?

Thanks!

Paul

The max resolution via the displayport is 2560x1600. I would think it'd work, but don't have a large monitor to test it.

if you were going from displayport to displayport then there would be no concerns.   since the displays you linked are DVI, there's a risk that they won't push the EDID properly and be limited to 1920x1080 or 1920x1200.   the variable here isn't the X230 but instead the generic monitors.

you'll also need to source miniDP to DL DVI-I cables or adapters.   not all adapters support dual-link DVI so be aware of this.   google is your friend here.

i know with certainty that the X220 and X230 can drive an NEC 30" @ 2560x1600 and NEC 27" @ 2560x1440 using a miniDP to DP cable.   i've not tried DP to DVI using adapters.
