Hello everyone,
When I booted my Thinkpad X230 up, everything was as it should be. However, the display started flickering not long after I turned it on. The entire bottom half of the image started jerking up and down, leaving about 12 rows unused at the bottom of the screen and cutting out that number of lines in the middle of the screen. Now the display is stuck that way, and a small band in the middle of the screen is invisible. The attached picture describes this better than I can in words. Notice how the mouse cursor and the sticky notes icon are both cut off, and compare the top row of text to the bottom in Notepad.
I am going to contact Lenovo about this defect and request to have it repaired, but I'm just wondering about the time and costs. When I bought the laptop, I bought it from Lenovo's UK site but received an e-mail saying that it was coming from China. Does this mean that I will have to pay to send it back? Also, how long will I have to wait? I bought the laptop for university, which starts on the 15th September.
Thanks for any help.
EDIT: here is the picture

You forgot to attach the picture but you'll most likely have to make use of the warranty.

In the US, you could exchange it for a brand new one within 21 days of when they shipped it. I don't know about the UK. Call warranty AND sales and ask for an exchange.
