CPU upgarde? Possible?

Hi!
I just want to know if I have a X230 system with 35W TDP CPU, can I upgrade to another type 35W TDP IVY BRIDGE CPU?
I hope this CPU is not soldered into the system board. (As far as I know the LV and ULV cpu's were soldered only in the past...)
So the question is that X230 has FCPGA988 (replaceable) or FCBGA1023 (soldered) CPU?
Thanks!

Soldered, AFAIK.

Thanks!
Meantime I've checked the system with the latest version of cpu-z and it shows the cpu as r
PGA988B socketed.

That doesn't mean much. The CPU-Z shows my X32 CPU as Socket 479 mPGA, when it is clearly soldered...

Even if you can just pop a new CPU in a socket, there is a high risk that the transplanted processor won't work due to BIOS / voltage or other mysterious factors. Either be willing to eat the cost of a non-working processor or make sure you can return it if things don't work out.

You can NOT swap the CPU in any of the X series - new or old - without reballing. Period.

There's really nothing "mysterious" about a CPU swap. If one installs a matching CPU, it will work.
