Replace Blackbutton function

*I posted about this in another thread, but I'm not sure if that was the right one for this discussion.*
I'm looking to replace the blackbutton function of an X230 from the Simpletap application to something more useful. I'm not sure how to go about doing that. I have already uninstalled Simpletap and now the button just doesn't do anything on a keypress. From the other thread the registry should look like this vanilla:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\TPHOTKEY\8001]
"File"="C:\\Program Files\Lenovo\SimpleTap\SimpleTap.exe"
When I look at my registry I can find
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\TPHOTKEY\]
but there's only a default entry and it says
"C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY" when I open it through regedit
Any help would be great. Thanks guys.
