Send 5.1 AC3/DTS audio though DisplayPort to HDMI

Hello,

I have connected my x230 (intel hd4000 gfx) via DP to HDMI to my TV.
My TV is connected to my reciever though spdif(coaxial).

When I connect x230 to the TV, I only get 2.0 channel from TV and Reciever.

But I know my TV is hardware capable to send spdif AC3/DTS to my reciever from hdmi source (tested with rapsberry pi).

Is there anyway I can trick the x230 to send AC3/DTS audio passthough to the TV. Ergo override the EDID the TV tells the x230 about only supporting 2 channels?

I know this can be done for some nvidia and ati cards! Just dont know if I can get it to work with the intel graphics.

Thanks in advance!

No one in here seems to know.

I'll try to buy this adapter and see if it works or not!
Too bad no one can answer me

HI mcmanuf,
I've exactly the same problem. Did you try the miniDisplay-Port?
