I'm having drivers issues under Ubuntu with the stock Realtek card that came with the machine. I purchased an Intel 6200 card and was going to pull out the original one. I assumed the screw holding this down would be Phillips, but upon further inspection this is some type of security screw... I have a bunch of driver heads, and nothing I had seemed to fit this. I also fear that I may have stripped the screw.

What type of screw is this? and what would I need to remove it? and on the chance that I stripped this, can someone advise how to get it out?

I did try putting the 6200 card into the mSATA slot (I also bought an adapter to make it full size), but my system didn't recognize it (I tried playing around with various BIOS settings to no avail.

Any help is appreciated.

The X230 Hardware Maintenance Manual says that's a M2 x 3.5mm screw. Nothing about it indicates that it needs a special or security bit driver. My guess is that it's just a standard crosshead design that's been stripped. In any event, flattening opposite sides of the head using a Dremel rotary tool with a cutting wheel and grabbing and twisting it with a pair of vicegrips or pliers might do the trick. Be sure to use a vacuum cleaner while cutting the head so you don't have metal fragments thrown about. You might get lucky and be able to twist the screw head without having to flatten it first.
