Display issue - backlight on, display flickers then black.

Greetings All,

I recently picked up a very cheap x230 that was described as having a screen that didn't work, but was ok on the external output.

I powered it up and confirmed that it was fine with an external monitor. I also noted that the screen flickered on startup, and you could see that the back light is working, so I arranged a replacement panel.

I've now installed the panel and am having the same issue, so apparently it wasn't the panel.

any help on resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

a quick update.

I decided to remove the keyboard and check the ribbon connectors and that did the trick.

so must have just been loose from the factory.

all fixed.
