X230 with a crucial M550 256gb SSD. Results!!

I recently install a crucial M550 I didnt upgrade the ram yet but as soon as fedex gets here ill have 16 gigs of cl9 1600mhz. Anyway running Ubuntu 13.10 this laptop boots up in 13.89 seconds. Thats after the initial installation of ubuntu 13.10. After optimizations and the ram upgrade i think ill knock at least 2-3 seconds off that. I am hopping that estimate turns out to be optimistic and things turn out better.

Iv owned this x230 for a few weeks so far and I am actually liking it. I thought I would hate the keyboard but iv become use to it and the keys have a solid feel and they bounce back hard which is nice. The only thing I really dont like is the mouse pad. I dont understand how any company could think not having actual buttons to click for mouse options was a good idea. Even if those buttons where thin as hell it would be better than what is currently being offered. As soon as you go to click something the mouse pointer moves making you miss the click. Plus lenovo has a design flaw in the mouse pad. When the laptop is actually on my lap if I attempt to left or right click the click becomes very hard because the bottom of the case is weak causing the click to bind up. Whatever I am really liking this laptop aside from the mouse pad. I wish lenovo wouldnt try to be so innovative with the thinkpad serious and be more traditional but regardless the x230 doesnt loose to many points when compared to my old t61.

Glad you're enjoying the X230! I boot pretty quick into Windows 8.1 with my M4, but certainly not that quick.

I can understand your gripe about the touchpad, more than anything size is the limiting factor. Though they probably could have gone about it better. That said I never use the thing anyways
