X240 external charging light?

Just received my X240 and I am a little baffled at the lack of an external battery charging indicator light. Is this really an omitted feature or should the little 'i' display something while charging when the system is turned off (as one would presume)?

The only thing that happens when I connect the AC cord is three quick red blinks on the 'i' then nothing.

I might also add that there doesn't seem to be any problem with actually charging the battery, which works fine.

I had an X240 for a while before I returned it due to a screen problem. I think charging is indicated by the "i" in ThinkPad on the lid. If you are charging but not getting the illuminated dot on the i, call Lenovo. (But I've been wrong before)
