X230: Intel 6205 + 1-3-3-1 beeps
Hi everyone.
So, my network connection at university is often lost when I'm in the periphery of a router, or there are a lot of computers online in the vincinity. My mates apple machines seldom have the problem however, and it has unfortunately become a reccuring joke...
I've got the Intel 6205 WLAN card, and as far as I can see, it is one of the better cards which the X230 has been equipped with. Drivers are 15.9.2.1, which as far as I can tell are the newest.
I only have two wires from the card, so as far as I can tell, I cannot use the 6300?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to improve my connectivity?
Also, first time disassembling my X230, although I've meesed with an X61t and X32 before.
When I'm putting the palm rest back on, it seems that there is a bump between the trackpad and fingerprint reader, so that I cannot connect both the middle bottom of the palm rest, and the upper right corner, only one of them.
If I just put the keyboard back on, and more or less force the screws in (albeit not tightening them too much), I get a 1-3-3-1 beep error - a "check your ram" error. If leaving the screws out, I have not problem - I am typing from the machine now.
Does anyone have any smart hints on how to fix this?

I can't help with your wireless questions but I do have some suggestions for the memory error:
- Make sure that there's nothing getting in the way under the palm rest. There should be no "bump".
- Make sure that you are using the correct screws, although the palm rest and keyboard should use the same M2 x 5mm screws.
- Re-seat the memory module.

Ah, got it. It was a small magnetic square in the lower right trackpad corner which had moved from it's place and attached itself to the metal on the palm rest. Not that I can see what it was for...

If it's truly a magnet, then my guess would be that it's for the lid switch sensor. Not sure where it goes in the X230 but I'd look near the back edge of the base. Maybe somebody else that has experience with taking apart an X230 can verify where it goes. Although it could be near the trackpad as the lid would have to get close to that position before the switch is triggered.

Thanks, but it had just moved 1cm from its place.
My question now is what to do about the 6205. If there is a better replacement, or it can be tweaked somehow.
