X230t & missing Bluetooth

#1 Post by crg7 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 9:25 pm

Hi:

I have X230t and recently installed OS from recovery partition.

Cannot find Bluetooth.

Machine type: 343522u

Checked parts lookup using machine type and serial and bluetooth module is present.
60Y3302 60Y3303 FRU Broadcom Hygie(BRCM 20702 BT 4.0) - Foxconn.

Thinkpad TA book states bluetooth is included for this MTM. I checked before buying.

Checked Control panel --- Programs and Features -- Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data rate software, v6.5.1.2700, 280 MB is installed.

Administrative Tools---Computer Manager--Device Manager doesn't display bluetooth either.
No unknown devices either.

Booted into Kubuntu and Bluetooth module is missing.

Of course, FnF5 doesn't display Bluetooth.

Is the bluetooth module present?
If so, how do I turn on bluetooth?

Thanks

At this point, I would reinstall the Bluetooth module, as it may be corrupted. I also have a x230t (3434CTO) with Windows 7 Pro which uses Bluetooth v6.5.1.4500.

The version of Bluetooth you have is for Windows Vista, according to the link below.

You can re-download it from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product ... &linkTrack

^ Good suggestion.
Problem is the Bluetooth adapter needs to be powered on to upgrade the driver :-(
And, I cannot turn it on.

Unless, you meant reinstall the hardware module. Haven't tried that--will wait for a while before going there.

If it's a recent purchase perhaps the module/card has actually been removed from the machine.

Unlikely--factory sealed, bought from BHPhotoVideo.
Will discover if I ever have to open up.

Since that machine is already at least 2 years old, did BT ever work before?

^Less than a year old--used only for a couple of weeks and put it away. Started using regularly for about 10 days.
Discovered missing bluetooth couple of days ago.

You'll need to remove the keyboard first, then the palmrest.
The BT module is located along the front of the laptop, on the RH side.
If missing, get this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131601105578

If it is indeed missing, Lenovo ought to supply it.
