Intermittent shutdowns...suspect old battery PLS HELP GUYS

Hi my X230 just keeps shutting down. Just goes blank...

A few month ago the battery was signalling it needs replacing.
Even later, there was a coffee leakage into the keyboard, keyboard was replaced, machine cleaned, and seemed to survive form many months. However oxidisation may be settin in that is my greatest worry...
can it be caused by bad battery? the phenomenon looks like when you just unplug the system with no battery in. Like power loss. Thanks. It then reboots normally...
can it be MB death?

event log...The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly

I have Whocrashed installed...It shows nothing reasonable. It happened also without the battery, only on plug in power. I think it is dying... :( any idea, about service in Prague?

Overheating issue ?

X230 is probably out of warranty unless you have bought the extended one. A post-warranty service is usually very expensive. You can ask here http://www.pcnet.cz/lenovo-obecne.php I have also good experience with http://www.bitservis.cz/index.php/servisni-zazemi/

Yes, you can use SpeedFan or HWiNFO to read temperatures. Unfortunately there can be any other issues because of aging effects.

No, I wouldn't update BIOS in this stage. Create Disk Image backup first to save the drive content.

what do you think... just in case it dies. I have invested in a 4G card, from ebay..about 5 thousand CZK. I have the docking station...the second hand machine in the link has Swiss keyboard, but I have a brand new Czech one. On the dying laptop.

Have you tried reinstalling windows (for example from another disk/partition, if you don't want to format completely) to see if it could just be a software problem?

I had somewhat the same issues with my x230. It wouldn't sleep/hibernater properly sometimes. The power buttom would just blink, and the only solution would be a cold reboot. After upgrading to a clean Win 10, I have so far not had the problem in more than two weeks, so I am hoping it has gone away :-)

I have my work laptop, an HP subnotebook, on my lap now...and I realise my Lenovo runs very, very hot compared to the HP. Might just be overheating...or HP has good heat conduction.

The warning on the battery icon says "consider replacing your battery, your computer might shut down suddenly". that is what the computer does.
Will changing the battery help? Is it risky to run the PC with the battery out? the error occurs also when the battery is out of the PC. Thx.

Try getting a really cheap battery off eBay or Amazon and see if your problems persist. If they are fixed, then spend the money on a proper Lenovo battery.

well thanks...in the past, the nb was soaked with coffee, and cleaned up afterwards. However it can be oxidising somewhere.... I gave it to the authorised lab for 3 days diagnostic tests. they said they cannot guarantee how long it can live but they did not see any immediate problem.
I will buy a new battery proper...I can risk that. Otherwise there are a couple of people offering the same machine second hand.

is it technically possible to use a motherboard from another machine? combine the parts? thx
