New to me Thinkpad X230i - How much RAM to add?

I just picked up a nearly new Thinkpad X230i for so little money that I simply couldn't pass it by. I will be using it for travel mainly, running office tasks and browsing.
I've put in an SSD and am wondering whether I would get a significant benefit from adding RAM. It's got 1 x 4MB right now.
And are there any other upgrades that I should consider?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Welcome to the forum!
I'd definitely add another 4GB stick of RAM and take it from there. You're likely be quite happy with the end result.

8 GB of ram will be very solid. 4GB will still work fairly well, but ram is pretty inexpensive now.
Some good brands (in no particular order) are: Crucial, Corsair (non 'value' models), Hynix, and Samsung.
I had some issues with Kingston, though.

I upgraded from 8 GB to 16 GB in mine, and it runs better with multiple windows open.

I second this. If you are a heavy multitasker, you can definitely see the difference with 16gb.
