X250 freeze at "Starting Windows" even from recovery CD

#1 Post by oliversl » Tue Sep 20, 2016 3:24 pm

Hi,
after updating the BIOS form 14-jul-2016:
http://support.lenovo.com/cr/es/product ... s/DS102289

The X250 freezes on the animation of "Starting Windows" on Windows 7 Pro 64bit. The same happen with F11 and with recovery CD.

Its bricked?

Thanks
Oliver

May be memory issue. Try to run memtest.

Just run memtest86 until test #6, memory problems usually fail at test #4
The Lenovo diagnostic did not report any issue.

The problem occurred after the BIOS update, can not install Windows 7 any more, it freezes upon boot.

I had the same problem on the new PC. The service center was changed to the SSD and motherboard within 21 days. :))) The next day the problem happen again... I solved it by resetting the BIOS to defaults and then re-create them up to the required. In the readme to update all the BIOS Utility.txt this is described (http://support.lenovo.com/ru/ru/downloads/ds102288) . Try.

I sent it to Lenovo tech support. Flashing the BIOS via cd boot, reseting default, didn't help. I could not install anything on it: linux, windows7, windows 8(after bios config), sbs2011, etc

I even did a "rollback" system time back TO a time before updating the bios. And changed the proper settings to the factory default. The strange thing is that I have the situation repeated itself 2 times exactly as You have. And on the Second time I was able to overcome it....

Make sure it's not in UEFI mode by accident.
