damaged LCD connector cable, need also new IPS panel
Dear all,
Unfortunately my LCD panel is dead...and I managed to destroy the lcd connect cable while trying to swap with another laptop.
I found the following FRU s on the PDF "BOM" document from lenovo:
04W3462 N LGD 12.5" IPS (the one I had in my machine and is damaged now)
04W3919 N LGD 12.5HD IPS
Please can anybody advise if there is any difference between these displays?
2. there is a sticker Certified Reutilized Part on the back of the damaged IPS display...I was charged a full price, in the authorised service, was I cheated? thanks

The 04W3462 is IPS, but suffers from "ghosting", do NOT buy. (LG LP125WH2-SLB1)
The 04W3919 is also IPS, but has no "ghosting", get that one. (LG LP125WH2-SLB3)
There's another one: LG LP125WH2-SLT1 which is even better.
2) I guess yes.

just to make life easier...found this on a thread.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X ... -p/1372695
what on earty is mfg p/n as opposed to FRU, as opposed to LG p/n?
IPS matrices have the following p/ns (Lenovo FRU):
mfg p/n 0A66673 (FRU 04W3462), p/n LG - LP125WH2(SL)(B1),
mfg p/n 0A66702 (FRU 04W3919), p/n LG - LP125WH2(SL)(B3)

Re: damaged LCD connector cable, need also new IPS panel
Hi, I managed to get an offer for LG LP125WH2-SLT1,
They say they have two version, glossy and matt...I just dont know which I should buy.
I thought IPS are all the same...what would the orginal panel be? glosssy, or matt? Thanks...
they gave me these links
Shiny/glossy http://www.display-lcd.cz/lp125wh2-slt1 ... y-displej/
Matný (matt in Czech) http://www.display-lcd.cz/lp125wh2-slt1 ... 8681-10414
There's another one: LG LP125WH2-SLT1 which is even better.

Most T/W/X screens are matt, glossy is for the cheap stuff and you don't want that.

Thanks...I was surprised the same display existed both in glossy and matt..
re the below displays, is the SLT1 really significantly better? If yes, I will buy it...
costs under 90 USD here.
I tried to swap two displays, unfortunately damaged the LCD cable...

"Much better" is really a matter of personal taste, I liked SLT1 better than the SLB3.
The SLT1 is used in the Lenovo Twist S230U (non-touch).
And anything that is not from the standard X/T/W models is usually cheaper (at least on feebay).
You might also want to look at this thread http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=120678
It is for updating the LCD to FHD (1920x1080).
[X220 and X230 use the same screens/cables.]

Re: damaged LCD connector cable, need also new IPS panel
I have the SLT1 installed now.
It looks nice for angles, It feels a bit less "shiny", I have attempted to increase the backlight intuitively, I felt as if the display was not on full brightness..So maybe it is just the initial feel.
Sadly I managed to display my "backup" secondhand x230, when I was trying to swap displays I probably shorted the display cable... I got a new one, but it still does not work. so, the repair guy has it still, if he can get it going (now, the normal display does not work, but the external one does)
any ideas or advice I should give him? some fuse, or other, that could be damaged? thanks
