Hey all!

I am having a major issue with my new battery i just forked 40 pounds for! its a brand new oem one that came in the genuine lenovo box with no seals broken at all.
i have had the battery since Tuesday and i have only needed to charge it 4 times so (4 total cycle charges to 100%) when i got the new battery i first turned my system off placed new battery in and let it fully charge to 100% i last used the laptop on Tuesday night it still had its full charge which i left in hibernation mode. But on Wednesday i got my new phone (Oneplus 3T) so ive been on that mostly. I have not used it till today and when i checked power manager the total capacity was 55.14 Wh out of the 62.16! it came with when i got the thing brand new and checked it when i had it fully charged

i seriously do not understand why this is happening to me i was lucky enough to get the battery then this happens i just want a battery that is actually reliable and wont kick the bucket after hardly and use or charge cycles!
can someone help me out!?

EDIT: i even uninstalled power manager and reinstalled it with the same results!

Li Ion batteries lose permanent full charge capacity starting the moment they're manufactured. Certain conditions based on charge level and temperature will accelerate this wear; mostly high charge and high temperature (especially both at the same time). Some manufacturers hold up better than others as well.

Who is the manufacturer of the unit? Sanyo, Panasonic, LG...? What was the manufacture date; does the first used date coincide with the date you first used it?

If the battery was manufactured back when the X230 line was mainstream (2012-2013), chances are good that the battery had degraded to the level Power Manager reports to you now before you received it (who knows under what conditions it was stored). The few cycles you've put on the battery since you've received it have likely just "recalibrated" the gauge to reflect the current reality that is how much the cells hold after those years of deterioration.

Thanks for the swift reply theterminator93!

some things that you have asked i will now tell you:
The Manufacture date: 15/11/2016
The Manufacture Name: LGC (same as the old battery)
I do useally use the laptop at high temps due to playing 3D Games such a NFS Mw 2013, Rust Legacy and some other games i enjoy playing.
I Use the Oem Lenovo Charge that came with the X230 (A 65 watt psu)
what you said about the recalibrated bit might be true but since i left that machine on idle (hibernate mode) it seemed to of degraded it im not too sure. it might be because it can get very cold in my bedroom at night so that could be a factor as it was left in hibernation mode.
i just hope it has recalibrated it as im too scared to use it and i might only use it when im not gaming to make it last i think that might help it.
oh and one thing i forgot to mention is that the first use date was 7/2/2017.

what i might do for now on is when im not gaming use the new battery to not stress it out as its brand new, turn of the machine when not using it (only takes around 10 seconds to boot) make sure that i unplug it after 100% charge and not leave it to over charge.
Thanks for your help so far!

If you mostly want to play games, get or build yourself a desktop, it's way more suited for games than a business laptop.

i would but i am simply not allowed. this laptop plays what i need or anything i throw at it with no issues. i don't really need anything more powerful and i love lenovo and the portability of them.

Very Minor Update:
so after a 1+ Week of using the old battery i have now installed the new one i was planning to use, since then my main ssd had just died giving me the error 2100 when booting to windows (was only 3 months old) so i installed windows 10 pro on the ssd that originally came with this laptop 4 years ago and to my amazement i found that it has giving me back some of (full charge capacity) which is now 55.94 not the 55.14 it was before on the old SSD Running 7 Pro. lets just hope it actually wont kill the battery leading to a small charge capacity like the last battery.

Yet Another Edit:
I have just looked in power manager after allowing it to fully charge for a bit and great news is that it now can hold a full charge of 55.88 Wh which is great as i did not know why it lost a bit of its full charge capacity after 4 charges and hardly any use of the first week of use
