Identify Wifi Card Win 7 64 bit X230 & missing bits device manager

#1 Post by blink » Tue Feb 28, 2017 8:56 pm

Hi All, X230 i got was loaded with Win 8. Have tried putting Win 7 64 bit on using restore discs that worked with my X220 but not detecting a few things on the X230.
Graphics was standard VGA but installed the Intel 4000? driver from lenovo site & that seems fine. However nothing showing for wifi.
Not sure which card it will be as there seems to be 3 variants on the driver downloads? Should i just try to install one & see if it works, & If not try the next?
When i press Fn F5 funnily enough bluetooth shows but no wifi. Bluetooth doesnt show in device manager though but not looked into that yet?
Also says battery not installed in power manager but im guessing that is because version 3 is installed & perhaps simply needs updating? Windows still gives basic battery info.
Many Thanks

If the wireless card is enabled in the BIOS, you should have an unknown device or unknown network controller in the device manager. Checking its hardware IDs in the 'details' tab should tell you which card it is and which driver to download.
