X230T - 2100: Detection error on HDD0

I keep a spare X230T unit updated and ready to ship in case I have an emergency failure while traveling on business.
I pulled it out, powered it up and did the monthly patching from Microsoft and Lenovo. I left it running after it completed the patches from Lenovo. I believe it was only "Hotkey Features Integration - Version 8.85.03". After a short amount of time while I was working on something else in the same room, I heard a beep and a few minutes later I turned to look at the screen to see;

2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD) Press Esc to continue.

I ran diagnostics on it. Did a few Google searches, etc. I think the drive actually is toast. It's the OEM spinning disk. I've pulled it and am going to see if I can test it via USB connection. I'm holding off patching my production systems until I am sure nothing in the Lenovo patch(s) caused this.

It can be for many reasons. Make a search on the forum for 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (can't help you with that, as i'm on tapatalk now).
The easiest solution is try to put back the hdd without it's brackets/metal retainer. Might work.
