Ordered X270

I just ordered X270:

4GB RAM
500gb 7200 RPM HDD
IPS Multitouch Display
i5

What are my chances that I find my brand new thinkpad with the following issues:

- display bleed
- dead pixels
- loose hinges (ie lid easily opened with one hand)

I recently checked out apple store and their MacBook Pros don't have any of those issue. This was one of the reasons why my last laptop was not Lenovo, just plain poor quality hardware. My two recent MacBook Air from 2014 are now going 3 years strong despite cranberry juice spill on the keyboard. Compare that two my last two thinkpads that broke 1.5 years in...

Shouldn't you have checked that before you ordered?

I did on a number of review sites. However it is not the same as having one in person to examine. That’s why I prefer Macs, I can easily find their store and it doesn’t take more than 5 seconds for me to figure out which models are out of the question and which will work for me. Not to mention I can return one same day without restocking fee.

Also dead pixels and IPS bleeding display is something more of quality control than anything else so should occur at random intervals.

IPS bleeding is typical for cheap display components Lenovo always prefer. No, you can't get decent display from Lenovo except few expensive models like P51 4K or T470s/X1Carbon WQHD, if you win the display vendor lottery. Low cost brands like Acer or MSI typically have better display quality than Lenovo for half price laptop. It has been already discussed many times, ThinkPads are just mass laptops for business, Lenovo use cheapest are crappiest components available that the business accepts (which failed in case of terrible P50 4K display that received many complaints and returns).

MacBook displays have also issues like image retention. Don't mention the tragic pocket calculator like keyboard with 0.5 mm key travel.

Honestly, sometimes internet (perhaps) amplify the minority opinion...

We have ordered only ThinkPads for the past 10+ years, and all of them were of good quality upon arrival.
Specifically, none of the worry items that you have mentioned.
Yes, we even ordered some ThinkPads directly from the web.

That's why I spent extra for the multitouch + IPS hoping that at least their tablet display will be of higher quality (I actually have no intention of using touchscreen on a laptop).

My biggest concern is not even as much RGB as it is bleeding from the sides of the screen which would be for me completely unacceptable.

I 100% agree that MacBooks keyboards have a lot to be desired but for me it is much easier to adjust to poor quality keyboard than screen. Not to mention other issues I had with thinkpads such as loose hinges, etc.

Touch displays have usually worse quality. Your issue is the panel vendor lottery Lenovo plays with customers. Backlight bleeding is also caused by pressure made to the panel sometimes because it is badly accomodated in the lid.

The reviewed panel Innolux N125HCE-GN1 looks good considering Lenovo poor display quality strandard regarding backlight bleeding but there is no guarantee you'll get it because there are more options:

Interesting. Back in the day when I used to buy thinkpad, tablets (classic tablets with twisting display) were known to have better screens. I guess things changed a lot, should have asked on this forum first.
