00HM745 (from the later X240 and most X250) is the best and will work fine.
Make sure you get a REAL LP125WF2-SPB2 (and not -SPB1, because they suffer from ghosting).

It is worth noting that in case of x240 screen replacement some other parts may be needed. Some people in this forum mentioned LCD cable aswell. Some of compatible screens may not fit perfectly into the screen cover. In a matter of lcd cable please check https://download.lenovo.com/parts/Think ... 140808.pdf

Different cable/parts only apply if you go from touch to non-touch or v.v.

Great to hear that. In this case I will try to mod my X240/260 frankenpad even more. I did replaced i5-4300U motherboard with an i5-6300U m/b already. This step required additional parts to be ordered - dedicated heatsink, SATA cable and bottom cover. I paid about 100 dollars for all the parts I mentioned (everything beside motherboard was new). This mod required some manual work as well - I have had to modify palmrests rollcage, left speaker and an plastic keyboard spacer frame just to fit my new motherboard. In fact I'm going replace that spacer with an dedicated x260 FRU since x240 part after a lot of grinding sill does not fit perfectly. What is worth to mention, an new bottom cover requires minor grinding in upper left and right corner just to fit it perfectly into the x240 base unit.

I can back up that some replacement screens may not fit properly. I just upgraded mine to an FHD display and the replacement screen needed double-sided tape to stay in place.
