X230 12.5 turns off sometimes...
X230 12.5 turns off sometimes...
Hello
I just got an new PC (second hand ofc).
It feels like the battery is a little "slipply" if that is a word
I can move the battery 2-3 millimeters up and down and when I do it some times turns off.
I really like this Thinkpad it's way more robust compaird to my old thinkpad Edge E530c
What do you think is the problem, do I need to swap the battery or is it somthing else that make the battery feel lose?
// Joppe
Oh btw, I really need to be herer more often so I get a chanse to learn better english <3

Re: X230 12.5 turns off sometimes...
Do you mean sliding the battery "in and out"?
Is that a genuine Lenovo battery or a Chinese knock-off?
Either way, try to fill the gap with e.g. paper/carton to stop it from moving.
Or if that 'kills' it, tape the battery in place so it can't move until you remove the tape.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
Re: X230 12.5 turns off sometimes...
The battery can be moved up and down not in and out.
It is an original battery from Lenovo and fully charged it clames to have about 5h
But it dies 4 no reason.
When I take out the battery and only use the powercable there is no problem at all.
If I have the cabel in and the battery too there is still a problem.
I did buy it from a reseller that only have customerservice at weekdays so I will call them to morrow.

Re: X230 12.5 turns off sometimes...
There are (supposed to be) two sliders to hold the battery in place.
Any one missing or defective?
Or are the grooves in the battery short sides faulty/cracked?
Is that a 29 or 44 battery?

Both the sliders work.
All I can see about the battery is that it is 6 cell.

Are the tabs that hold the battery to the case there?
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Did talk to the reseller and they will send me another PC. I hope it works better.

Update, I have not got the new thinkpad yet so I try to use this one when I work.
When I put it on a stand it works great, no random turn off.
I have been using it 2 days now totaly 16h on battery no problem but when I take it from the stand and put in in my lap or move it in the air it does turn off
Just have to say this: This 12.5" PC can do every thing that my 15" MacBook Pro did in my studio but faster <3
