Lenovo bios fru blocking hard drive install

I bought a laptop and PS4 compatible 2 terabyte hard drive for like 50 bucks on eBay. Put it into the drive caddy and inserted it into my x230 and just got constant beeps. Device Manager located it as an unknown device but driver installation failed. Is there a specific format or type of hard drive that you can or can't use with Lenovo devices?

Yeah it had good connection with the SATA connector terminals, like I said was even recognized by device manager just couldn't get the drivers to install and motherboard speaker kept making one beep every 10 seconds. I checked the beep meanings and it doesn't make sense to the situation but the beep stop when the hard drive is disconnected

Maybe it's the HDD itself making the beeping noises. That means it's a defective drive.

Have you got a desktop with a free SATA-slot?
Maybe that drive first needs to be initialized?

Or a USB-to-SATA adapter and see it it gets recognized in another laptop/desktop?
Does your BIOS say "UEFI only"?
If so, change to "Both" and "Legacy first" and try again.

Yeah it is in both mode. I sent it back. It was a refurb anyway.
