You will have to slipstream SATA drivers into the .iso for XP before you load it. XP was for PATA drives only, before SATA was invented and standardized for PC's and laptops.

You can't add the drivers after the fact as there will never be an 'after' without the SATA drivers.

Here is the latest Rapid Storage Technology driver Intel has released for XP x86 and x64 (v11.2.0.1006).

Just remember to set your SATA controller's mode to 'Compatibility' in the BIOS first, otherwise Windows XP will not see the HDD/SSD.

If you set it to 'compatibility', it shouldn't need any special driver... I think.

If your X230 comes with a Win 7 Professiona, you can also installing Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine:

www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8002

I tried it a few times, and it's got a few qualify-of-life improvements baked into the VM,
so it's a bit better than if you install directly from Win'XP install DVD (yes, I've tried that too).

Good luck!
