X270 Faulty Power Button Cable

#1 Post by Idjustliketointerject » Thu Jun 27, 2019 5:05 pm

I foolishly decided to replace the keyboard on my X270 myself, not realising how much more difficult it was than on an X230.

I broke the power button cable (picture in link below). The wire is not properly connected to the connection. Now my laptop won't start. Is it possible to solder this part? I'd like to try before buying a new cable or destroying this cable completely (which is over £50).

Sorry to hear your predicament; that OEM cable sounds very expensive...

Another option to think about, at the cost of portability (only if your X270 is permanently chained to your desk):
Buy a compatible docking station for your X270 !
There is also a power button on your docking station; you can use that one instead.

These start at £200 and up: (as compared to buy a £50 cable...)
