Hello to everybody,
I am getting crazy with this laptop for which the closure of the lid doesn't affect the sleeping mode. All drivers are okay and managed by Lenovo Service Bridge but the Lenovo Diagnostics Tool reveals that there is a fault for the lid sensor. Looking at the schematics (http://sualaptop365.edu.vn/attachments/ ... -pdf.3783/ for the motherboard page 34 and 70 and http://sualaptop365.edu.vn/attachments/ ... -pdf.3786/ for the board with the lid sensor) I found the signal produced by the IIRC hall-effect sensor (LID_SWITCH) that is connected to the pin 27 of the chip U39 (on the motherboard) to drive the sleeping mode. So... I completely disassembled the laptop, tried to change the entire button-board (that includes the IIRC sensor) with a new one and checked the continuity for the signal LID_SWITCH from the sensor EM1792 on the bezel board (that one with the buttons in the bottom side of the display) to the motherboard. Finally, as you can see in the video attached, I set the laptop in BIOS -to by-pass all possible SW/drivers- and tried to check the voltage on U39 pin27 (signal LID_SWITCH) when a magnet is placed near the lid sensor. Everything looks like OK and the presence of a magnet correctly forces the LID_SWITCH from 3.3V to 0V. Do you have some advice for me to proceed the troubleshooting?

Re: x230 tablet: problem with sleeping mode
new detail: I also noticed a second signal called LID_SWITCH_EC but it is all the time at logical state 1 as it is connected through the pullup resistor R1404 to +VCC3M (pag 61). I checked the resistor R1404 and it has about 3.3V both sides. Unfortunately I am not able to check directly the pin F10 of U36 as the chip is a BGA socket. It seems the last chance is to replace completely the motherboard even though I should do it without a precise reason because I don't find any anomaly on it. Just a curiosity for X230 owners: while the laptop is in BIOS if you place a magnet close to the sensor, does it go into sleeping mode? If so I presume at 100% that only a hardware fault can cause this anomaly and not any SW issue.
Thank you
Thank you
