X240 EDID.

#1 Post by Zaitoichi87 » Tue Jan 14, 2020 8:52 am

Greetings ThinkPadsForum,
I am a long time reader of this forum you guys have been amazingly helpful in my ThinkPad Adventure.
At the moment i am modding my x240. i installed a new screen and like so many before me i ran into a problem with the brightness.
So i am trying to make the brightness work on windows 10, i found out my new screen (LP125WF2-SPB2) has an EDID that is not protected, so i am able to write to it.
Now i am looking for some advice, i want to rewrite the EDID on the screen using linux based program. And i want to change the EDID so that my bios will accept the screen.

should i look for an EDID from a original lenovo screen (that comes with the original x240 FHD) an copy this to the screen?
or can i just edit the new screen EDID identity-name into something like LEN040...?
does anyone have the original EDID data from a x240 lenovo screen?

Thanks in advance!
