X260: i5 vs i7, is there much of a difference?

#1 Post by Nickolai » Sat Jan 25, 2020 1:57 pm

Is there much of a difference between an i5 and i7 CPU on X260? I can see models with i5-6300U and i7-6500U CPU and comparing the specs the biggest difference I can see is 3 MB vs 4 MB cache. This alone shouldn't amount to much, should it?

No not much difference. If the price is close to the same, I would probably choose the i7, but if it's much more I doubt most folks would notice any difference at all under normal circumstances. If it was 2 vs 4 cores at similar clock speeds... now that would be another matter.
