x230 strange lid/monitor switch off

#1 Post by TOTAL » Wed Feb 19, 2020 2:09 pm

A recently bought a refurbished x230, there is a strange lid behaviour both in BIOS and in windows.

The screen goes dark, the disk led keeps blinking, nothing happens until I slightly open/close the lid, which is when the screen switches on.

BIOS has been updated using the Lenovo tool, but nothing has changed probably, ie. it has happened again in windows today.

Could this be a matter of some - presumably BIOS-level - sleep setting? Quite unlikely because of the unpredictability of the problem.
I wonder, perhaps it would be best to have the machine replaced.

Thanks

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Lenovo x230
8gb ram

Either a cable or board issue, perhaps?

Gosh, board again... death of fate of all my computers. Any way to diagnose that?

Thanks a lot.
