Hi,
I have finally got my hands on x230, after many delays due to the ravaging virus. But it's 6cell battery is almost flat, 70% wear level.
Based on various blogs and sites, re-celling a lenovo battery is tricky - smbus programmer is needed and even then it's a lottery of having a right IC that is supported.
But someone suggested to me yesterday, that all it's needed for x230 is to replace the cells and recalibrate the gauge. My idea is to use modern high capacity cells (I have a few INR18650-35e lying around, which would be perfect for this).
Anyone has experience with this?
I have experience with making battery packs for e-bikes, powerwalls and scooters, so proper welder and good quality cells are not a concern, just need to talk to the electronics somehow.
Thanks,
