ThinkPad X270 - upgrade wifi to wifi 6?

#1 Post by Edward Mendelson » Fri Sep 04, 2020 4:21 pm

I've just installed a wifi 6 router and the speed difference is dramatic. Is it possible to upgrade the wifi card that came in my ThinkPad X270 with a wifi-6 enabled card? Will the BIOS whitelist get in the way? I see that the card is physically replaceable, but don't know about the whitelist.

Thanks for any insights.

AX200 works off the bat in a T470s, which should have the same wifi-specs as an X270.
Get the card (model AX200NGW, FRU: 02HK705) e.g. here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVYKRW9/
And get your drivers before you swap the card.
For W10: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/produc ... Fi-6-AX200
For Linux you may need to update the Kernel: https://vitux.com/update-linux-kernel-o ... ough-ukuu/
