Keyboard not working after cleaning, is it fixable?

#1 Post by almet » Mon Jan 17, 2022 5:36 pm

Hi folks,

I have two x230 (one for work and one at home), and I recently decided to upgrade the one at home in order to do some music. I've added 16gb ram and a 1TB mSATA drive, everything was working great, but then I decide to do some cleaning of the keyboard.

I turned the computer off, but left the battery connected, and started cleaning. At some point, it powered-on and the mouse was just moving by itself. I tried to press the power button without success and had to remove the battery to power it off.

But now the power button doesn't seem to work anymore. I've switched the keyboard with the one from work and it's working properly, so it seems that I screwed the keyboard somehow with the alcohol I was using to clean it.

Do you think there is something I can do in order to repair it or I should get a new keyboard instead? Also, where would you recommend me to get the keyboard? (I'm in France and not sure where to order?)

Thanks for your help!
