X250 - Replacement MOBO is X260

#1 Post by andy1ad » Thu Feb 17, 2022 1:06 pm

Hi

Need some advice please.

I recently ordered a replacement X250 motherboard to fit the busted one in my X250. The replacement mobo came fitted to palmrest, keyboard and fan which I thought surprising.

As I did not know whether the keyboard that this replacement motherboard was fitted into was functional and that its palmrest was a bit grubby, I de-housed the motherboard and fitted it into my original X250. This was when I then realised there was something wrong with the fit - i.e the X250 has the 'old' monitor connection whereas the X260 does'nt (it has additional USB and HDMI). The more detailed conscious of you will also note X260 has a different DDR for RAM to X250 as wel..

My question is therefore this....

If I were to order an X260 base which would effectively properly house the incorrect mobo that I have been sent, would the original X250 top unit be ok in terms of fit and technical compatibility with what would effectively be a X260 motherboard/base/palmrest etc?
