I bought a new backlit keyboard (UK layout) on Ebay for my X230. Its exact specs are:
Parts no. 0C01947
FRU no. 04X1264
Model no. CS12BL-85CB
Unlike other Thinkpad keyboards I've bought on Ebay/Aliexpress in the past, this one seems to be a genuine part with really nice feeling keys. The backlit function also works perfectly. However, unfortunately, the keyboard has various issues when used with my X230, including:
- Mouse buttons (left, right, middle) don't work.
- Number keys type symbols instead of numbers, as if the shift key was pressed.
- The shift keys don't seem to do anything.
I've tested the keyboard on both Windows and Linux with similar results, so it's not a Windows specific thing.
Does anyone know what the issue could be here and if/how I can fix it?

Re: Issues with new backlit keyboard for Thinkpad X230
I'd dispute it as damaged and buy something else.

That FRU 04X1264 is for Slovakia, not for UK.
The UK version is 04X1269.
Mis-read?
Carefully remove the KB-cable.
With a magnifier, check that there is no dirt or bent pins in either cable or motherboard connector.
Reinsert straight down and make sure it is fully pressed in.
If still no luck, and if interested, I have a perfect US layout backlit keyboard 04X1240 for sale.
€30 shipped from Wexford.
The UK version is 04X1269.

I've rechecked the FRU code and it's definitely 04X1264.
Elsewhere on the keyboard there are 4 codes (starting with US, US2, GB and JO) in a column with small boxes next to them. The one with GB has a mark in it. The exact code is GB >>102-11G86LHB01.
After checking with a magnifier, I can't see any bent pins or dirt on the connectors. I've given them a clean with some isopropyl alcohol but it's made no difference.
Thanks for the offer, but if I can't get this to work properly I think I'll just go back to the non-backlit UK keyboard I have, as it still works fine on this X230.
