I got my thinkpad W530 yesterday, and found it had no color sensor. A lady in technical support department told me W530 should have the color sensor. But when I called the Sales Department, I was told W520 has the color sensor, but W530 does not. Will the color sensor be important when color calibration is being done?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
W530 has no color sensor. Is the sensor very useful?

I ordered my W520 with the color sensor. Not only is it not useful but it was actually worse. It cast a yellowish hue over the screen. Trust me, you're better off without it.

I agree; I ended up using my i1Display2 to calibrate; wish I hadn't wasted my money on the onboard Pantone one. Although, to be fair, the real issue may reside in the packaged software rather than in the calibrator itself... some have reported favorable results using dispcalGUI, for instance...
