Hi was wondering what the battery life and heat of the 530 vs 520 was? I'd like the esata but if the 530 is more efficient in regards to power and cooling I'll just purchase the w530. Thanks

Look at the stats from notebookcheck.com

W520 | W530

Idle (without WLAN, minimum brightness):
12:46 | 11:18

Browsing with WLAN
6:02 | 6:32

Watching DVD
5:28 | 5:12

Maximum load with maximum brightness:
1:30 | 2:42

So besides maximum load... no gain whatsoever.

Also note that you loose a usefull keyboard and get a crappy one with the W530. You also loose the eSata (like you already said) and the Displayport gets downsized.
