Remapping the thinkpad button on w530 win 8 x64

Anyone got any advice on Remapping the thinkpad button on a w530 running win 8 x64?
On my trusty T61 I managed to change the proper reg values pretty easily, but on my w530 I just can't make it work.
I have been using the thinkvantage key for years to turn off my screen with a small portable app to save battery life and occasionally protect "sensitive" information when someone walks by. (like ordering a present for my wife online and other completely innocent stuff

)
I tried everything I could think off, which amounts to the advice given
here
(not running simple tap btw)

Bump

I wonder if the lack of replies is an indication of noone knowing how to do it or noone reading the post

Well, I for one sure miss the ability to map that button. Anyone feel like doing me a solid one and looking in to it?

I must have gotten a counterfeit W530, there's no "Thinkpad" button on it.
Although there's a whole other thread where we pinned down how to use the "black button" that has no label on it, under Win7/64. I'd expect that might cover the same problem of unclear instructions being the only real roadblock.

Somehow I didn't see your reply until now.
Using
This app, I can NOT see the scancodes on my un-labeled thinkvantage button.

Anything there that isn't covered
here ?

Yes. The answers posted here (in the other thread on this forum) are complete, detailed, precise, and not just vague references to other URLs that may or may not quite have all the needed information.
But if what you found at Lenovo gives you sufficient answer, there's obviously no need to look further. If you try it and it doesn't work for you...well...either way you can answer the question directly.

What did I say to merrit such a reaction?

I am at a loss to understand your tone and subtext so I will try to ignore it and assume that I am misreading you due to me not being a native english speaker.
Perhaps you could post a link to the thread on this forum? I refer to an external url precisely because I have been unable to find the one that you refer to.
As indicated in my original post, the approach described in the Lenovo thread works on my T61 win 7 but not on my W530 Win 8.
Finally I don't see any questions posted in this thread that I didn't answer directly.
