I am looking to get a W530, and have few questions.

1. I've read somewhere that when running on battery, it tends to throttle the processor, unless the bios is set to run on integrated graphics only, and if that is the case, the processor can run on full turbo boost all the time while on battery (someone tell me if that is not correct).

2. if the bios is set to run on integrated only, can the laptop run on 90w adapter or even a 65w one ?

3. is it possible to hibernate, then go to bios, and change from 'optimus' to 'integrated' (or vice versa) without having to do a full restart to the OS ?

The system will throttle under load when running on battery no matter which graphics setting one is using, and you can forget about flying on turbo for any prolonged amount of time.

You might get it to power on with a 90W unit, but it will throttle severely under any type of load. Use the factory brick and call it a day.

No.

With respect to the 65W and 90W PSUs, in my experience the laptop will not charge with them. When plugged in to the W530, the battery light will blink a few times and then remain dark, and and the laptop will not charge. It seems to only work with the 175W power supply.
