W530 with Windows 10 keeps going into sleep mode
W530 with Windows 10 keeps going into sleep mode
I have a Thinkpad W530 with 24GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive. I was running Windows 7 Professional with no issues but a couple of weeks ago I upgraded to Windows 10 after receiving the prompt to do so. My system sleep settings are set to never go to sleep when plugged into the AC power outlet. Unfortunately, my W530 laptop is going to sleep about every 2 minutes when plugged in and I'm not using the computer. It's driving me nuts. I don't want to reinstall Windows 7 Pro but I haven't found any solutions to this problem.
My screen saver is set to 15 minutes and the checkbox for "On resume, display logon screen" is not checked. Every time my computer goes to sleep, I have to re-enter my logon password.
It also sometimes wakes up from sleep all by itself in the middle of the night even when my mouse is turned off. My Windows 7 Professional would never do that.
Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yours has narcolepsy and mine has insomnia.
I hate problems that no one else has had. You're pretty much on your own as far as solving them.
My only suggestion would be to check your power option settings in the Device Manager and make sure they are the same in your power options program.

If your installation is an upgrade from W7 and less than 30 days old, you can return to W7.

I went Win 10 from 7.
I already had used Win 8.1 without any problems.
However, unlike you, after I upgraded to Win 10 from 7, I downloaded produkey to get the Win 10 key.
Then I proceeded to download Win 10 ISO (in my case, Pro, from MS's website and made a bootable USB)
I made a clean install of Win 10 from the USB, input the key I had from the upgrade and it works well, no issues whatsoever.
Clean install is the best way.
However, to go back to Win 7, you will need a CD or USB with Win 7 on it and you can use your normal key that you find in the batter bay and do another clean install.

Search Power Options. Go to Choose when to turn off computer. Go to Change Advanced power settings.
Select power plan for PW requirements on or off.
Select Display, Sleep, and Power buttons and lids for behavior settings. I added lid behavior in case your lid closed sensor is the problem.
