Wireless adapter does not start at start up
Wireless adapter does not start at start up
W530 Win 10
Intel Centrino Ultimate N 6300 AGN wireless adapter
Whenever I start my computer the adapter does not start. Says this in device status:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful."
I have to disable it then enable again to get it to fire up. I don't know how long its been a problem because up until recently I've been using a wired connection. Might have been since switching to Win10. The driver is up to date.
I have looked in local services for something that might be disabled or manual start. Didn't see anything that looked applicable.

Re: Wireless adapter does not start at start up
You may have used Windows Vista driver. My T43 also has that kind of problem but a bit better: every time if you turn Wi-Fi off from Windows 10's toggle and then boot the computer without fast start-up the toggle grays out and I have to update the driver by the exact same driver to get that toggle to ungray and then turn it on. Unfortunately the newest driver for that 2200BG on that computer is for Vista (XP driver won't work at all). Try go and search in Intel's website to download the latest driver.

Re: Wireless adapter does not start at start up
So I went to Intel. They do not have a Win10 compatible driver:
https://communities.intel.com/thread/109616
I think the incompatibility has something to do with power management. If I unplug the power cord from the laptop a few minutes before shut down (fast start up off), the next power up starts the adapter. If I unplug it right before shut down, next power up does not start the adapter. I first noticed this while using it on battery only.

Re: Wireless adapter does not start at start up
If there is driver for 8/8.1 it is likely to work better but so far I have NEVER had critical driver problems in Windows 10 (unless you really want to push a non-DX9 GPU in or something)

Re: Wireless adapter does not start at start up
Intel guy suggested pwr management and fast boot settings in bios. I changed some settings and it now works after shutdown with pwr on. Though it did not work when I did one restart. Maybe fluke but I need to test that more. Also not sure which bios setting change made it work. Will play with that too.

Re: Wireless adapter does not start at start up
Confirmed adapter does not start on machine restart. I thought I had the shut down configured to go completely off like a restart does. Guess not. Also with pwr disconnected, normal start up does not fire up the adapter. Have the opposite problem from my original problem but much easier to live with now.
