bought a w530 a while back off ebay and didn't check the color gamut until 5 months later.

Aida 64 says the screen model is Lenovo B156HTN01.1

the screen just seems sorta meh. Maybe it's because i'm used to really contrasted screens?

it's brighter than my w500 1920x200 screen but dimmer than my t520 1600x900 screen

screen should be the 1080p 95% RGB one

First thing you should notice with a genuine FHD screen is that all images and colors look very saturated. This is the dead giveaway. Contrast on these screens are only about 400:1, which isn't great, but still decent. I read somewhere that the 1600x900 15.6" screens have slightly better contrast, but someone else would have to confirm that.

Brightness is 270 nits on FHD panels.

EDIT: The correct screen should be b156hw01 V4, which is not the one you have. However, they both seem to have the same CR, brightness, and color on Panelook

ok cool so i guess it's just my eyes that can't tell color that well?

tried some online tests and i could see some differences

used this. https://webkit.org/blog-files/color-gam ... rison.html

I could tell the differences in the sunset and the umbrellas

Aida 64 also has lenovo in front of the model number

I didn't know if that meant it was a OEM screen or not.

One way to tell its an OEM LCD is an FRU label attached. Without this label its probably not OEM.

Lenovo ran out of V4 and started replacing it with V1 during the life of *30 series, there were quite a few complaints about the latter on both the official Lenovo forum and NBR at the time...

There is nothing like a good IPS, but you can fool around with the gamma to get a TN screen like the one you have to have better blacks.
It'll make your text look punchier, but you'll need to undo it to be able to see image midtones and shadows.

On linux, you can set the gamma with the "xgamma" command, there must be an equivalent way to do it on Windows.

Well in any case the display seems ok. only thing i can do is to swap it out sometime.

Thanks for everyone's help

this display seems like a TN panel but it's fine
