W530 Ethernet port dead

I wonder if someone can shed some light on this for me.
The Ethernet port on the side of the machine has stopped working, I have tried a Linux live boot to check it was not a driver issue but still nothing.
I also have a docking station and the Ethernet port works perfect on that when the machine is docked.
Please correct me if I am wrong but the system still uses the same Ethernet chip on the motherboard when using the docking station?
I have checked the USB port on the back of the machine that is on the same board as the Ethernet plug and that works perfect.
My kid told me that the machine was pulled from my desk when the dog ran past and got caught up in the network cable, this could be possible.
Any help on this would be great as I'm currently carrying a USB to Ethernet adaptor from site to site when needed.

Yes it does use the same chip.

It's possible that only the RJ45 port is damaged.

I've not had my W530 in bits in a long time, So I'm trying to remember, Is the Ethernet port on the same board as the USB port and is it a total tear down to replace?

The part you need is I/O sub card 04W6898 which contains both USB and RJ45 ports.
Described in the T530/W530 HMM in Chapter 10, 1200 I/O sub card.
It's on the bottom inside, you need to remove the chassis-with-motherboard from the Laptop-bottom.

But before you do, check if all the 8 wires inside that RJ45 port are straight and not making false contact.
You might get lucky.

Looks like a shop about for the part then as I bet its going to cost a mint!
