I've used 1vyrain to jailbreak two w530s and one w510. Works a peach. Gets rid of the whitelist and ME.
Can I used this software to do the same to a W541? I'd like to upgrade beyond an AC-7260 wifi card.

Removing the whitelist on haswell and newer requires direct BIOS reading, modification, and flashing using a ch341a programmer and soic8 clip. Usually someone else does the modification. https://youtu.be/ce7kqUEccUM This video should explain the whole process. It can be done by most people but takes much more work than the newfangled 1vyrain. My personal recommendation, if you get a programmer, get the more expensive black one with a clip included. I originally ordered a blue one and, after days of frustration with failed reads, found that it had broken, and the clip was cheap and kept slipping off.
