Opinions on ThinkPad L470?

#1 Post by IvanNane » Thu Jun 29, 2017 11:24 am

Hey 🙂

I'm buying new ThinkPad L470. I was wondering is there any review on this device? And can you tell me about quality of device. I know that T class is best, but how good really is the L class.
And do you think that L470 is good choice for programming student?
Model that Im interested in is:
i5 7600U
Intel HD
8GB RAM
256GB SSD
WIN 10 Pro

Thanks 🙂

Before you buy, do a Google search with: lenovo l470 review.

When you read the forums, you will soon find out that the majority here is only interested in REAL Thinkpads of the T/W/X Series.

Your intended L470 question belongs in the Post-Classic Lenovo Hardware group, in the sub-forum: ThinkPad L430/L530 and later Series.

Think of it this way:

L470: A good(i5) car that breaks in 3 years.

T470: A eh(i3) car that will last you a lifetime.

Pick which ever you think suits you. If you tend to drop things, dont get the L470.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

That bad? I cant afford T series right now, thats big bucks for student. I know that T are tanks, but is there really that big difference between T and L?

The new T series (and other series too) isn't as sturdy as in the past. They are made from worse materials that tends to break after very little usage (eg. palmrest in P50, cracks near hinges in '16 TP 13). Of course comparing to competitors TP's are still better.

I'm kinda curious about this L-series, maybe it is best of both worlds now (price vs. quality/reliability)?

The Thinkpad 13 is in the same class as the L series, cheap junk. Atleast the T series will hold up,maybe not like a T42, but better then cracked hinges. I thought those were for cheap toshiba satellites of 1995 or 20 years old thinkpads, not new ones.
