Dear Forum members, I'm dealing with a Lenovo L430 that doesn't work properly. It gives a fan error and then does not boot. The fan does run for a little bit, but stops after the fan error. The fan has been replaced, but the problem persists.
From other thinkpad fan error topics (I read many), I concluded that the fuse of the fan could be the cause. Therefore, I want to measure the fuse and see if it's working correctly. However, I cannot locate the fuse. Does anybody have the fuse schematic of the L430 (or L530 which has the same motherboard)? Or does anybody know the right number of the fuse?
I tried looking for 2A/32V fuses (these were the specs of the fuse on most other thinkpads) on the board, but there don't seem to be any. Does the L430 even have this fan fuse? Is there another workaround to this problem?
I took the motherboard out of the laptop, so I can easily try to find any fuses you refer me too. Below you can find some pictures of the mainboard, this might help you identify the right fuse.

Note that I posted this question on the Lenovo forums as well. If I receive useful feedback there, I'll be sure to post it here as well. The thread is: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-L ... -p/3280674 . The model is L430, 2468-37G. I'm quite sure that no adaptations have been made to the hardware.

Re: L430 fuses, fan error
That mobo is from a different manufacturer than what is normally used in ThinkPads.
It has funny fuse numbers, like F4901, F5001, F6905 where normally they have names like F1, F2, F12 etc.
I suggest you remove the fan and check under where you see the copper pipe on the first picture, near the black fan-connector.
The "usual" 2A fuse has the letter N printed on it.
On the bottom (3rd pic), above the docking port, is another 1.5A/6V fuse (F4502 ?), is that it? 1.5A have letter K
If you don't see the fuse, look for "lenovo L430 schematics" (or L530) on Google, where you can either find or buy it.
If you find it and get a replacement fuse, just solder it piggyback-style on top of the old one.

Re: L430 fuses, fan error
Dear Realblackstuff, thanks for the advice. I bought the schematic, but I'm still struggling. The one you suggested (F4502) is related to the LVDS connector, so that must be for the screen.
I checked the other ones close to the fan, and from what I understand, the most likely ones would be F5001 (1.1A, 6V), F6905 (1.5A, 6V). Do these values make any sense? The problem is that I have difficulty understand the schematic. There are a bit too many abbreviations that make me lose track of what it all means. Is it something I could post here and ask help with?
