The laptop is about 2 Years old.
The battery has had almost no use (less than 29 Cycles), and was showing very close to original Capacity.
I gave the laptop to somebody.
So after they sent some images of the battery settings in Lenovo vantage showing errors like
"The battery capacity has been degraded. Please replace a new one " - (an exact quote of the text)
and a popup saying "The battery has failed due to normal wear". They claim the laptop doesn't work unless plugged in.
It's under lenovo Warranty, but doesn't cover the battery.
Is this normal, or even possible to happen?
when I last had the laptop everything was working, including the battery.
Is there a possible fix to this?
Unfortunately, batteries do sometimes fail "out of the blue". Although calling a failure after 29 cycles "normal wear" is a bit misleading. You may try your luck with Lenovo warranty despite it not covering batteries, citing the low number of cycles.
